Stewart Hagestad is staring down his golfing goals this summer
(USGA Photo)
(April 10, 2017) - Stewart Hagestad has already
finished as the
low
amateur at the 2017 Masters but
what could make 2017 an even better year? A spot
on the USA Walker Cup team at his home course of
Los Angeles Country Club for one.
Hagestad is likely a lock for one of the two mid-
amateur spots on the team, however isn't taking
any
chances.
Currently, Hagestad is on a leave of absence
from his finance job at Oak Tree Residential in New
York City and he
has a busy summer of golf scheduled.
Hagestad's Summer 2017 Schedule:
-Coleman Invitational
-Kerry Cup (Ireland)
-Irish Amateur
-U.S. Amateur Four-Ball
-U.S. Open Qualifying
-British Amateur (if he doesn't qualify for the U.S.
Open)
-Northeast Amateur (depending how far he
advances in the British Amateur)
-Western Amateur
-U.S. Amateur
“Every event I play is an opportunity to prove
myself against the best amateurs and the best
professionals in the country, and if I can continue to
resume build and to build my case, hopefully I’ll
earn the opportunity to represent the United States
[in the Walker Cup],” Hagestad said told Golfweek.
“But it’s not my decision and all I can do is to
try and like I said, build my resume, build the case
that I would be a good representative. … If they
want me on the team, and I would love to be there,
I would love the opportunity to represent the United
States.”
