(January 2, 2017) -- For Stewart Hagestad the 2016
holiday season had a little bit of extra cheer as on
December 30th he received his 2017 Masters
invitation.
Hagestad earned his spot in the field when he won
the
U.S. Mid-Amateur last September with a late rally in
the
championship match.
Hagestad, who played on the USC golf team for
four years, will be playing in his first Masters and the
first professional major of his career. He will also
being
teeing it up against some of the players he used to
compete against in the junior golf and collegiate
ranks.
After receiving his invitation in the mail
Hagestad
shared the news on his Instagram and Twitter pages
saying, "I have long dreamed of the day that I would
have the chance to read this letter with my own
eyes.
This invitation represents the single most significant
individual goal that I have ever set for myself - the
opportunity to compete in The Masters."
With the calendar now flipped to August,
Hagestad
has just over four months until the Masters begins
on
April 6th.
