Del Monte Golf Course
As the holiday season gets underway, so does the AmatuerGolf.com Winter Series, presented by Callaway. The first event is the 2023 Christmas Classic, presented by Callaway at Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey, Calif., from Dec. 2 to Dec. 3.
Nathan Jetton of Bandon, Ore., won the 2022 Christmas Classic in dramatic fashion, chipping in on the first playoff hole to secure the victory. Kyle Gentry of Palo Alto, Calif., won the Mid-Amateur Division, finishing T7 overall with rounds of 73-73 to defeat Daren Johnson of Covina, Calif., by one shot.
The tournament's founder Casey Boyns of Monterey, Calif, won the Senior Division by one shot over three players who finished T2. Boyns made a birdie on the final hole to win.
Boyns is a two-time California Amateur champion and a longtime looper at Pebble Beach.
Boyns is the founder of the Christmas Classic, and the original name of the tournament was Casey's Christmas Classic when it started in 1985.
