54-hole men's college tournament hosted by San Jose State University. “The Western” is one of the most highly recognized national collegiate tournaments, conducted since 1946 at Pasatiempo Golf Club, a historic venue where a player’s talent is always well-tested. Pasatiempo perennially ranks among the best by all of the major golf publications.
The format is slightly different than most college events. Six-player teams take the best five scores each round to determine the team's score.

NOTABLE PLAYERS
Michael Thorbjornsen of Stanford, who is currently ranked No. 2 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings, leads the field in this one. Other notable players teeing it up are Christiaan Maas of Texas, Mahanth Chirravuri of Pepperdine, Petr Hruby and Taehoon Song of Washington, Karl Vilips of Stanford, Cooper Jones of BYU, and Yuki Moriyama of UNLV.
Past players account for 566 PGA Tour victories, including 52 "major championships." Seventeen Western Intercollegiate alumni will be participating in this year's Masters.
PAST CHAMPIONS
2022 and 2024 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is the most notable past champion of the Western Intercollegiate when Scheffler won it in 2015 with Texas. Other past champions include Maverick McNealy (2016), Ken Venturi (1951 and 1953), Mark O'Meara (1978), Johnny Miller (1968), Arron Oberholser (1996), Patrick Rodgers (2012), Justin Suh (2017), Isaiah Salinda (2019), and Dylan Menante (2022).
LAST YEAR
In 2023, Pepperdine's Derek Hitchner won the traditional blue jacket after shooting a 7-under 203 tournament total. He became Pepperdine's fourth Western individual champion and third straight, following his teammates Dylan Menante (2022) and Joe Highsmith (2021).

COURSE
Pasatiempo is a much-beloved California course, designed by Alister Mackenzie, that has long held a spot on the Golf Digest Top 100 courses list. Mackenzie also designed the famed Cypress Point and Augusta National Golf Clubs. It is the host course of the 2010 Stocker Cup Qualifier on October 5, 2010.
HISTORY
The rich history of the Western Intercollegiate Golf Tournament spans from its inception in 1947 to present time. Over the years several standout WI tournament participants and champions have achieved success on the PGA Tour as well as in the golf industry.
Most recently, WI Champion Ken Venturi ('51 and '53) was named as an inductee into the 2013 World Golf Hall of Fame. The honor, in the Lifetime Achievement category, recognizes Mr. Venturi for his performance on course as well as his contributions to the game of golf and to community.
