National Sports Festival: Choi Jun Hee and Minsol Kim win individual titles

Jun Hee Choi and Minsol Kim clinched individual titles for men and women at The 104th National Sports Festival hosted by the Korea Sports Council and organised by Jeollanam-do, Jeollanam-do Office of Education, and Jeollanam-do Sports Council.
Choi of Incheon delivered an impressive performance, finishing with 11-under 277 total. His rounds of 67-74-68-68 secured his victory by a one-shot margin over fellow Incheon man Yoon Si Kim. Kim’s rounds of 71-70-67-70, resulted in a total score of 10-under 278, earning him the runner-up position.
In 2023, Choi took part in a total of 11 events, securing victory in two and achieving four other remarkable top-10 finishes throughout the season.
On the women’s side, Minsol Kim of Gyeonggi, ranked 7th on the Golfweek.com/Amateur Golf Rankings shot 8-under 280 with her rounds of 71-70-71-68 to share the title with Yunseo Lee who shot rounds of 73-66-71-70 to join Kim at the top of the leaderboard.
In 2023, Kim has achieved a runners-up finish at the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship in Singapore and clinched victory at the Dream Park Cup in South Korea, all while accumulating an additional eight top-10 finishes throughout the season. Additionally, she has notched two top-5 finishes on the KLPGA, securing fifth place at the OK Financial Group OK MAN Open and an impressive 4th place finish at the Korean Women's Open Golf Championship.
Last year, Kim secured a third-place finish in the tournament after shooting rounds of 79-70-68-70 for a total score of 1-under 287. This placed Kim seven strokes behind Kyorim Seo, who ultimately emerged as the champion with a score of 8-under 280.
In the men's team competition, the Incheon team, comprised of Jun Hee Choi, Shin Woo Choi, and Si Yoon Kim, secured the title with an impressive total score of 554, outshining Seoul, who finished as the runners-up with a score of 570, a remarkable 16-shot difference.
In the women's team competition, Chungnam consisting of Sumin Hong, Oh Yeon Jeong and Minjee Ku produced a total score of 565 to beat Busan by four-strokes, who finished runners-up at 569.
