The Iowa State men’s golf team finished 11-under 841 with rounds of 277-287-277, securing the team championship at the Tiger Invitational held at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
The Cyclones won by two shots to earn their third title of the season. This follows their two wins in the fall at the Iowa Fall Classic and the Zach Johnson Invitational. This is the first time the Cyclones have won three tournaments in one season since 2016-17.
The Iowa State men's golf team carded a three-round score of 841, their lowest tournament score this season. This will also enter the 2023-24 team into the record book for a low score in a 54-hole Tournament.
Missouri shot rounds of 275-284-284, finishing as the runner-up at 9-under par, followed by Central Arkansas and San Francisco, who finished T3 at 8-under. Central Arkansas shot rounds of 278-275-291, and San Francisco shot rounds of 287-271-286.
In the individual competition, Missouri senior
Jack Lundin shot rounds of 64-70-66, securing his second consecutive individual medalist honors following his triumph at The Hootie at Bulls Bay. Lundin, who is ranked No. 26 in the
Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com U.S. Rankings, has now clinched four titles in his college career. Furthermore, he has consistently excelled, finishing in the top five in five consecutive tournaments and in seven out of ten overall this season.
RELATEDLSU wins at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Lundin stepped into the final round neck and neck with Stetson sophomore
Dominic Clemons, both at an impressive 8-under. He then added a flawless 5-under 66, surging ahead to claim victory.
Throughout the tournament, he dominated with an astounding 22 birdies across 54 holes. His total score of 200 over three rounds not only secured the win but also marked a personal milestone, surpassing his previous best of 201 at Arizona earlier in the year.
Luke
Gutschewski of Iowa State led the Cyclones to the team win, finishing in solo third place at 9-under. Gutschewski finished in solo second place at the
Wyoming Cowboy Classic last week.
