The wins keep coming for a pair of America's best senior amateur golfers.
Bob Royak (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Doug Hanzel (Savannah, Ga.) teamed up to win the Georgia Senior Four-Ball at the Sea Palms Resort. Though rain washed out the final round, their seven-shot lead would not have been in doubt.
The team of Royak and Hanzel represented a pairing of U.S. Senior champions. Hanzel won his in 2013 and Royak captured his earlier this year. At the Sea Palms Resort, they opened the tournament with a 12-under 59 which immediately put them in front by seven, a lead they maintained through a second-round 64.
For Royak, the win gave him a clean sweep of the Georgia state senior championships for 2019.
For Hanzel, the current No. 1 ranked player in the
AmateurGolf.com senior ranking, it was his fourth title in this event.
In the Super Senior division, the team of Al Small and Larry Clark won their third straight championship, prevailing by three shots over the teams of Don Marsh/Ernie Venet and Steve Melnyk/John Darr.
