Randy Haag, John Fritz, Jim Kamis and Brian Sachs won their respective divisions in the 14th Annual Moot Thomas Invitational.
Haag came from behind in the final round at the Ocala Golf Club to claim the Senior Division title. Haag (Orinda, CA) shot the low round of the day, a 2-under-par 70 to overtake the leaders and win the title with a 212 score (71-71-70). Finishing in second place was Jerry Slagle (Southlake, TX) with 214 (72-69-72). Third place was claimed by Doug Snoap (Apopka) with 68-72-75 – 215. Fourth place went to Mike Murphy (Oldsman) with 217 (71-72-74).
The Super Division was won by John Fritz (Mint Hill, NC). Fritz shot an even par 72 to win the division by two shots with a 214 total. Castleberry’s Rob Hess, Robert Parmar (Fairhope, AL) and John Armstrong (Frostberg, MD) tied for second with 216 scores. Hess shot 70-74-72, Parmar posted rounds of 72-71-70 and Armstrong came in with 72-73-71.
Jim Kamis (Marietta, GA) edged Bobby Lundquist (Sanford) for the Legend Division title. Kamis shot 213 (70-70-73) besting Lundquist (74-66-74 – 214) by one shot. Finishing in a tie for third at 216 were Berger Warner 69-73-74 and Pete McDade (Lakeland) 68-73-75.
Brian Sachs went wire-to-wire to win the Super Legends Division. Sachs (Newberry) shot rounds of 67-68-75 for a tournament low 6-under-par 210 and a four shot victory margin. Finishing alone in second place was Charlie Busbee (Stockbridge, GA) with 214 (67-74-73). Third place went to Ormond Beach’s Jim Carley with 217 (72-71-74). Finishing in fourth was Steve Wilson (Solana Beach, CA) with a 220 on rounds of 71-76-73.
FROM THE ROUGH – The field was comprised of 96 golfers from 19 different states. There were many golfers in the field who shot under their age in the tournament but none did it better than Charlie Busbee. The 84-year-old Super Legend player beat his age by 17 shots when he posted an opening round of 67.

age or older. Super Senior division must be 65 or
older,
Legends division must be 70 years or older, and
Super Legends must be 75 years or older. The

successful
amateur career.
