Haag and Burda take titles at Scratch Players Mid-Am
Santa Rosa, Calif. (March 25, 2012) --
Randy Haag continued his winning ways
by
posting a 2-up victory over Michael
Harrington at the Scratch Players Mid-
Amateur championship at Mayacama Golf
Club in Santa Rosa, Calif. Haag is coming
off a victory at the Diablo Valley Amateur
earlier this month.
Haag got into the finals with 3
and 2 victory over Mike McCusker in the
semifinals and a medalist performance in
the stroke play qualifying with rounds of
70-72-78--220.
Harrington beat Barry Loker on the last
hole of his semi-final match, 1-up, to face
Haag in the finals.
In the Senior division Jeff Burda
defeated Jim Knoll and 2 and 1. In the
semis Knoll had to go 23 holes to take
down Jim McNelis while Burda topped Bob
Kain 4 and 3
ABOUT THE Scratch Players Mid-Am and Senior
The Scratch Players Mid-Amateur
Championship
(SPMA) is primarily an exempt player event
for
top mid-amateur golfers from the United
States, western Canada, Mexico and the
Pacific
Rim although any exempt player worldwide
is
welcome to enter.
36-holes of qualifying for 16 spots in mid
am
and 12 seniors (4 seniors get 1st round
byes).
Invitations may be extended to
those mid-amateurs based on a "Golf
Resume
of Accomplishments" submitted to the
Tournament Director. There are no
exemptions
for the SPMA as there is no qualifying.
