JUNO BEACH, FL (April 29, 2017) - Doug Hanzel has won the George L. Coleman Senior Invitational in wire-to-wire fashion. After sharing the lead following day one at Seminole Golf Club, Hanzel took the lead alone in the second round and then closed the deal with an even-par 72 to finish 2-under. Hanzel started the final round slowly but an eagle on the par-5 8th played a big role in his victory.

The win for Hanzel, the top-ranked player in the AmateurGolf.com Senior Rankings, is already his third point winning victory of the year. Hanzel had previously won the Florida Azalea Senior and Golfweek POY Classic/Natl Championship.

Defending champion Tim Jackson fired the round of the tournament with a 5-under 67 to surge to 1-under and a second place finish. Playing in the group ahead of Hanzel, Jackson birdied the closing hole to provide some late pressure.

First round co-leader Brady Exber placed third at 1-over while Matt Sughrue and Alan Fadel shared fourth at 4-over.

With his tied for fourth showing Fadel earned the Barend van Gerbig Trophy awarded to the low Seminole Golf Club member.

ABOUT THE Coleman Senior Invitational

Senior Division of one of the very best amateur events all year long played on the last great private course designed by Donald Ross. The course, not long by today's standards, lies hard by the Atlantic Ocean. Oceanic winds and very fast greens give this course teeth. Ben Hogan once said 'If you can play Seminole, you can play any course in the world.'

The tournament is a 54-hole stroke play invitational that draws an elite field of mid-amateurs and seniors.
