De Los Reyes shoots 66 again, leads by one at Calif. State Fair
Jonathan De Los Reyes
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (August 31, 2014) — Two 65's dotted the scoreboard after Saturday's opening round at the California State Fair Amateur as Corey Pereira and K.K. Limbhaust shared the first-round lead. But after a Sunday morning 66, Jonathan De Los Reyes of St. Mary's College has pulled into a one-shot lead.
It is the second consecutive round of 66 for De Los Reyes, who trailed the leaders by a stroke entering the second round. Pereria is currently one back after a 68 today while Limbhaust is three back after a 70.
Scoring is low, as it typically is at the State Fair as there are 51 players at even par or better. 29 players are three-under or better.
Pereira, from Cameron Park, Calif., is having quite the summer. He was runner-up at the Sahalee Players and won the Pacific Coast Amateur by an astounding eight shots.
Third place is held by Del Oro High School junior Joshua Sedeno of Roseville, Calif., who has shot consecutive 67's. Sedeno qualified for this year's U.S. Junior Amateur, advancing as far as the round of 32 before losing to Andreas Halvorsen of Norway.
The last two champions of the event — Cody Paladino and Brandon Hagy — have since turned pro.
