Canterbury Golf Course, designed by Herbert Strong, is nationally recognized as one of the 50 foremost golf courses in the United States and one of the finest courses in Ohio. A truly championship course, Canterbury has hosted many of golf´s most noteworthy championships, including the 1973 55th PGA Championship, two U.S. Opens, two U.S. Amateurs, two Western Opens, National Golf Day in 1972 and 1973, four Senior TPC´s and the 1989 Ameritech Senior Open. Canterbury proudly hosted the 17th U.S. Senior Open in 1996. Canterbury was 75 years old in 1996, The course is of Scottish architecture, traditional in nature, and constructed to fit the area´s topography. The conditions of the fairways and greens has been nationally acclaimed. The course is demanding, but fair. It is not extremely long but one with great variation of holes. To master Canterbury requires much skill, local knowledge, accurate shot placements, and, above all, a player capable of strategy.
