Bob Royak Leads Gasparilla Invitational
Bob Royak
TAMPA, Fla. — Bob Royak sits one-shot ahead of the field with one round remaining at the Gasparilla Invitational.
Royak, a native of Alpharatta, Ga., opened with a round of 74 but a 2nd round 68 was the only round in the 60's of the day which vaulted him into the lead. Royak is a seasoned amateur, having played in multiple U.S. Amateurs and U.S. Mid-ams, along with a U.S. Senior Open.
He'll draw on those experiences as he tries to fend off defending champion and former U.S. Mid-am Champion Scott Harvey. Harvey lurks just one shot behind after rounds of 69 and 74. William Mitchell and Derek Meinhart also sit just one shot shy of Royak's lead at 3-over par.
The senior division is led by Jack Hall and Don Reycroft who are tied at 6-over par.
