After turning pro in 2023 and securing some high finishes early on the PGA Tour,
Ludvig Aberg finally has broke through and secured his first PGA Tour win.
Aberg won the 2023 RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club at St. Simons Island, Ga. Aberg shot an incredible 29-under and a final round 9-under 61 to win by four shots over Mackenzie Hughes.
Eric Cole and Tyler Duncan finished T3 at 22-under.
This victory moved Aberg into the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking and secured him an invitation to the 2024 Masters Tournament, which would be his first major championship appearance.
Back in early September, Aberg secured his first professional win, winning the 2023 Omega European Masters on the DP World Tour with a score of 19-under par. Aberg birdied his last four holes to get the win.
He beat fellow countryman Alexander Bjork by two shots and shot a 6-under 64 in the final round.
Before turning pro in 2023, Aberg spent four years at Texas Tech and was an incredibly accomplished collegiate golfer.
The inaugural PGA TOUR U winner earned his full PGA TOUR card for the remainder of the 2023 season and the entire 2024 season. Aberg swept all three National Player of the Year Awards (Ben Hogan, Fred Haskins, and Jack Nicklaus), becoming just the seventh player all-time to accomplish the feat.
He was the lone player in Texas Tech history with multiple individual wins in three different campaigns. He was the first player in the history of the Big 12 Conference to repeat as an individual medalist and set the all-time scoring mark at the Big 12 Championships by recording a score of 15-under. He was the only male golfer at the Division-I level during the 2022-23 season to win both his conference and regional championship.
Aberg was a Three-Time First Team All-Big 12 Selection in 2021, 2022, and 2023, he was a GCAA All-America Scholar in 2021, and he made the 2021 All-Nicklaus Team and PING All-Central Region.
Before arriving at Texas Tech, Aberg was ranked 37th in the WAGR. He advanced to the Round of 16 at the U.S. Amateur Championship after rolling through stroke play with rounds of 68 and 73 and also advanced to the Round of 16 in the British Amateur. He was a member of the Swedish National Team and recorded a seventh-place finish at the Junior Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass and was sixth at the PING Invitational at Karsten Creek.
In 2017, Aberg won the Fairhaven Trophy and stroke play at the European Boys Team Championship in La Manga, Spain.
