It's evident amateurs didn't wait for the official first day of summer to turn the heat up on their games.

Outstanding performances were turned in by top collegians in a PGA Tour event and the Elite Amateur Series, a two-time USGA Women's Mid-Amateur champion and super seniors who keep rolling along.

And what would a Player of the Month list be without Ingrid Lindblad?

Here are the seven amateurs who caught our eye during the month of June.

AmateurGolf.com's Players of the Month for June, 2022

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN
The Stanford standout qualified for the U.S. Open at the Country Club in Brookline, Mass., which is a half-hour drive from his hometown of Wellesley, Mass., and had the honor of hitting the opening tee shot on a course made famous by another amateur, Francis Ouimet, in 1917. Thorbjornsen flirted with history the following week at the PGA Tour's Traveler's Championship, where he shot 15 under to finish solo fourth, four back of winner Xander Schauffele. It was best finish by an amateur on the PGA Tour since Lee McCoy's solo fourth at the 2016 Valspar Championship.

INGRID LINDBLAD
It seems as though the Swede owns permanent residency in our Player of the Month Club. Lindblad was in contention at the U.S. Women's Open at Pine Needles before she ultimately tied for 11th, taking low amateur honors by eight shots. Paired with her idol Annika Sorenstam for the first two rounds, Lindblad shot a 6-under-par 65 in the first round, which was lowest round by an amateur ever in the U.S. Women’s Open. Following her outstanding showing at Pine Needles, Lindblad advanced to the final 16 of the British Women's Amateur at Hunstanton Golf Club and then tied for 33rd on the LET/DP World Tour Scandinavian Mixed in her hometown of Halmstad, Sweden.

BRYCE LEWIS
The rising junior at the University of Tennessee vaulted to the top of the Elite Amateur Series points standings by winning the Sunnehanna Amateur and tying for fourth the following week at the Northeast Amateur in Rumford, RI. Lewis took control of the Sunnehanna from day one after carding an impressive 6-under round of 64. He entered the final round with a three-stroke lead at 10-under par which proved to be just enough of a cushion to earn a one-shot victory over Kelly Chinn and Maxwell Ford.

DOUG HANZEL
Although he is now eligible for Super Senior status, the 65-year-old Hanzel continued to show that he can still mix it up with the younger guys. The Savannah, Ga. native won the National Senior Hall of Fame tournament at High Point (N.C.) Country Club by four shots over Gene Elliott and Alan Peake. He also had a strong showing at the Chanticleer National Senior Invitational, where he was tied for the lead entering the final round before ultimately finishing third.

DYLAN MENANTE
After tying for 13th at the Sunnehanna Amateur, Menante followed it up with a successful - and record-setting - title defense at the Northeast Amateur. Posting rounds of 62-64-64-67 on the Donald Ross par-69 layout of Wannamoisett Country Club, Menante walked away with the tournament records for margin of victory (9; tied with John Cook in 1979) and low score after 36, 54 and 72 holes. Further evidence of Menante's dominance at Wannamoisett, Menante went 66 straight holes without a bogey dating back to the 2021 event and he made just four bogeys on the week against 23 birdies. The next closest competitor, Karl Vilips, made 18.

JIM PEARSON
The Charlotte, N.C. native won the super senior divisions of both the National Senior Hall of Fame and the Chanticleer National Senior Invitational, running his winning streak of super senior major wins to four dating back to last year. In fact, Pearson is unbeaten in national super senior majors since turning 65 last year, when he won National Senior Hall of Fame and Timuquana titles. He doesn't travel as much as some others in his age bracket, but when he does he tends to come home with hardware.

JULIA POTTER-BOBB
The two-time USGA Women's Mid-Amateur champion and director of member services at the Indiana Golf Association, Potter-Bobb won the Women’s Southern Golf Association's Mid-Amateur at Hunting Creek Country Club in Prospect, Ky., headed home and three days later won the Indiana Women's Golf Championship. She ended the month with a strong second-place showing in the Indiana Women's State Amateur.
