MONTEREY, Calif. (Dec. 4, 2008) -- The amateurgolf.com Christmas Classic has historically been our most popular events, and the 2008 tourney is no different.
For the second year in a row, the competition will be split over two courses, Pacific Grove Golf Links and Del Monte Golf Course. As of this writing, there are still a few spots open, if you want to join us, call Trisha Williams at 408-406-2035.
The Christmas Classic was founded by 2-time California State Amateur Champion Casey Boyns over 20 years ago and it always attracts a great field. Boyns won the tourney in 2007 in dramatic fashion with a birdie on the first playoff hole to top Chris Marin. To watch footage from that event, click here.
Both players will be back this year, with the added intrigue of Marin facing off with Randy Haag for the amateurgolf.com Player of the Year race. Marin currently trails Haag by 75 points, with 100 points awarded to the winner of this event. To see the complete standings, click here.
Entry fee for this event includes two rounds of golf with (cart at players expense), $7000 in prizes, lunch on Sunday and a great weekend at two of the Monterey Peninsula's wonderful classic courses, "Old" Del Monte and Pacific Grove Golf Links.
Brand new for 2008 is an optional skins game at Carmel Valley Ranch on Friday, and Holiday party on Saturday at photographer Joann Dost's Monterey studio.
Players are invited to enjoy the completely redesigned Carmel Valley Ranch, for just $100 including greens fee, cart, and skins pool. Limited to first 84 paid players. And on Saturday night, enjoy wine and appetizers as you tour the beautiful space that Joann Dost (known for her Pebble Beach and worldwide golf photography) is opening on December 1. The party is included with your entry fee but limited to the first 75 players (including no more than one guest).
Call Pete Wlodkowski at 760-685-3406 to RSVP for the holiday party.
