AmateurGolf.com Announces Winter Series Events
Aviara Golf Club will play host to the San Diego Classic
AmateurGolf.com is proud to announce our AmateurGolf.com Winter Series. The Winter Series consists of five tournaments from December through January at tour-quality venues across California’s top golf destinations.
The Christmas Classic, our most popular event, kicks things off December 3-4 at Del Monte Golf Course. UC Berkeley’s Ben Doyle will be back to defend his title along with many of his Cal teammates including the world’s 12th ranked AmateurGolf.com/Golfweek amateur, KK Limbhasut. The Bears are looking to make it three straight as sophomore Tanner Hughes won this event in 2014.
Following the Christmas Classic, for the first time in AmateurGolf.com’s history, we will be hosting two events simultaneously. The Tour Championship at Poppy Hills will be played December 17-18 while the San Diego Amateur at Aviara Golf Club will be contested December 18-19. Choose wisely but know either way you will be met with a strong field at an incredible course. Clayton Madey and Christopher Tuulik will be back to defend their respective titles.
January 8-9 marks the inaugural La Costa Classic played at the newly renovated Champions Course at La Costa Resort. We are thrilled to bring an event to a course that has played host to 37 PGA events along with the 2014 California State Amateur.
The following weekend will cap off our Winter Series with the Silicon Valley Amateur January 14-15 hosted by Coyote Creek Golf Course. One of our most popular events, the Silicon Valley Amateur will be played at both the Valley and Tournament courses. A win here will put you in the same company as last year’s champion, AmateurGolf.com/Golfweek world No. 3 Collin Morikawa.
Each event will have men’s and women’s scratch divisions along with senior and net flights. The entire schedule can be viewed here.
